Spanish Language FAQ

How long it will take for me to learn Spanish?

Learning a language is a process that takes a life time. Even when speaking in your native language you will constantly be learning new words and ways to improve what you say. However, there are constant debates about the correct way to write and speak, depending on the need and the industry.

Therefore it is impossible to say one has finished learning a language. In short, we can say that " a language is about communication not about perfection ". To start to learn how to communicate in Spanish will take you initially 10 weeks, with further classes available, depending on the ability you want to achieve.
I have done already some Spanish classes, how do I know which level will be suitable for me?

We offer a full program for learning the language: Beginners classes - Advanced level. We will do an initial assessment of both written and speaking skills and then place you in the appropriate class. It is important to look at both the written and spoken language as every student will have a different ability regardless the amount of time you have been studying the language and the aim is to find the class that will best suit your needs.

Which materials do I need to bring to the class?

In our classes you will learn grammar in a natural way without even realizing you are doing it. Simple explanations of grammar will be given to help the learning process. But the emphasis of the class will be on speaking and listening.

I am not very good at memorizing things and this seems to be essential with learning a language. Is there still a possibility for me?

Yes.

Viva Latino has developed and continues expanding a system to help anyone to learn a language.

It has been proven that the human brain has the capacity to learn anything. The problem is that we normally learn "the what" but not "the how". This is one of the biggest differences that Viva Latino offers from any other language school or even any other educational institute.

We are continually researching "the how" to teach the language. As our classes are small (between 3 and 5 students), we are able to tailor the classes to each student's learning style.

The student will take a self test at the beginning of the term, which aims to find out their learning style. From there, we will advise the student how to study in groups and individually according to his learning style. Then, the teacher will prepare the classes accordingly to make sure every student benefits from time spent at the class and in self study.

The aim is to ensure students are able to learn the language in a way most effective for them, therefore, teachers will be observing during the class "the how" each student learns. There are countless ways of problem solving and every problem requires different approaches. So we hope the experience of learning a language will be accompanied with the experience of knowing yourself and your learning style and discovering that you can apply it in any situation at work or personal life.

If I learn Spanish from one country would I be able to understand the Spanish from another country?

Yes. Every country has a different accent, and even within the same country, people from different regions often have different accents, just as the English language does. But because Spanish is pronounced as it is written, once you learn Spanish, you will be able to understand it from any other Spanish speaker around the world. Our teachers are all native Spanish speakers from different countries, so you will have the opportunity to hear different accents.
